This is a dual-function role suited to a hands-on, self-motivated individual who is comfortable both operating heavy equipment in a pit environment and managing scale house operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of our pit, ensuring material is moved efficiently, accurately weighed, and that customers and drivers are processed in a professional and timely manner.

Responsibilities
• Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to loader and grader as required to support daily pit production.
• Load aggregate materials into trucks accurately, efficiently, and safely.
• Assist with stripping, stockpile management, and general pit maintenance as directed.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all equipment operated and report any defects or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
• Monitor equipment performance and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Operate equipment safely and in accordance with safe operating procedures.
• Assist with site road maintenance and general yard duties as required.
• Operate and monitor the pit scale, accurately recording inbound and outbound truck weights.
• Issue weight tickets and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all material movements.
• Greet and direct customers, contractors, and drivers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Communicate material availability, pricing, and load specifications to customers as required.
• Coordinate truck traffic flow on site to ensure safe and efficient loading and dispatch.
• Reconcile daily scale tickets and production records and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organised scale house.
• Assist with basic administrative duties related to scale operations as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and Alberta OHS regulations at all times.
• Wear all required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, and CSA-approved steel-toed boots.
• Participate in safety meetings, tailgate meetings, and hazard identification programs.
• Report all near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Valid drivers license and clean abstract. (Class 1 or 3 license is preferred).
• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, or graders.
• Prior experience using a loader scale attachment to weigh materials.
• Familiarity with aggregate products, sizing, and material specifications is an asset
• Knowledge of Alberta OHS regulations as they apply to aggregate and pit operations
• General construction or aggregate industry experience is an asset.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote or rural environment.

Work Environment
• This is a field-based position on an active worksite. PPE is required including CSA certified steel-toed boots.
• This position work outdoors frequently in various weather conditions on ground that may be rough, muddy, or icy.
• Must be comfortable working in dusty, noisy, and industrial environments.
• Equipment operators may be required to do light physical labour and are required to lift up to 30lbs on a consistent basis.

Hours of Work
Shifts are generally 8-12 hours in length, Monday-Friday. Overtime, evenings, and weekends may be required.

Salary
The compensation range for this position is $32 – 36/hr. Compensation will be based on experience and skillset.

Applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and fit for work testing as part of the hiring process.
