Wood is currently recruiting for a Piping & Equipment Design Coordinator with experience in the chemical manufacturing industry. The Piping & Equipment Design Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing design work supporting major facility-based capital projects for chemical manufacturing facilities.

- Meet or exceed the company’s safety standards.
- Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices and other standards.
- Read and fully understand preliminary design packages and other documents which describe the scope of work to be done
- Provide piping and mechanical equipment design coordination between the project manager and engineering contractors in a fast-paced environment
- Read and fully understand P&ID’s and other documents which describe the scope of work to be done.
- Be able to read and understand fully the plant’s engineering specifications, standards, guidelines, and other technical documents related to your discipline.
- Be familiar with industry codes such as ASME, API, and others which relate to piping and mechanical design in industrial environments.
- Interface with engineers, operators, maintenance, environmental, and other personnel at the plant site to understand the design considerations for the site.
- Work closely with project engineers, plant personnel, contractors, and team members to achieve project success
- Coordinate walk down with engineers and other team members to provide material takeoffs and labor estimates
- Daily coordination with field teams to monitor project development and produce up-to-date status reports of construction progress
- Communicate project successes and challenges with clients, engineers, designers, field teams, and other personnel
- Review material quotes and material orders for projects and ensure all project materials have been delivered and received at onsite facility warehouse
- Provide Master copy of field red line markup drawings for any updating required
- 20+ years industrial experience working in the design field, preferably in that of the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Must be highly experienced in the design of process piping & mechanical equipment
- Willing and capable of operating in a self-directed manner drive the design process forward.
- Able to understand and act when your part of the project hits a roadblock.
- Able to travel to and act independently at other plant sites in the gathering of needed information for your designs.
- Outdoor design experience, able to wear required PPE and drive safely to jobsite for field measurement/as-built drawings.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good negotiation skills A pro-active approach to solving problems and getting the job done.
- Self-motivated/Self-directed.
- Proficiency in MicroStation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Word, Excel and Outlook.
