Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Piping Designer to join its Projects business line focusing on engineering, procurement and construction of complex plants in the Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy industries. The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week.

The Role

You will report to the Piping Leader for the Projects and support the execution of Piping Design activities, starting from Equipment Layout definition and Piping Layout development for all relevant lines. You will interact with other Engineering Disciplines to ensure an effective flow of information and documents. Piping design activities will be mainly carried out using 3D design tools under the guidance of senior personnel.

The key objectives for this role are:

  • Support the execution, ensuring quality and consistency, of common piping deliverables including: Plot Plans, 3D Models, Isometrics and Piping General Arrangements (GA’s)
  • Develop familiarity with commonly used materials of construction, insulation systems and installed instruments
  • Develop familiarity with piping components, including pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, gaskets, bolting and specialty items
  • Gain understanding of common process equipment and assist in the routing of process and utility piping in accordance with P&IDs, project standards and design requirements
  • Prepare piping design deliverables for internal reviews and implement comments under supervision
  • Develop an understanding of discipline interfaces and their impact on project execution
  • Interface and collaborate with other engineering disciplines
  • Participate in the review of P&IDs and contribute to piping-related comments when required
  • Support the piping design and layout activities for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with safety, operation, maintenance and constructability requirements
  • Execute assigned piping design activities in accordance with project schedules and quality requirements
  • Perform piping design activities using 2D and 3D CAD systems with several softwares
  • Apply general piping codes, standards and client requirements under the guidance of senior engineers and designers

Expected:

  • Technical Diploma or B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Fluent Italian and good English
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical competencies in piping stress analysis.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to be relocated abroad

  • Previous experience in similar role

Compensation and compliance:

Contract & Classification

  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Collective Agreement (CCNL): Industria Metalmeccanica (CNEL C011)
  • Job Classification level: Impiegato, consistent with role requirements and applicable CCNL

Compensation

  • Gross Annual Salary: the initial gross annual salary will be € 32,604.60, paid in 14 instalments
  • The compensation package will include applicable CCNL elements and company benefits
  • Variable pay and additional benefits will be detailed during the selection process
