Downer is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Pipeline Patrol Officer to join our Engineering Services team. In this critical field- based role, you'll help protect essentials gas transmission assets across Victorica by monitoring pipeline corridors, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring on-site works meet strict safety and compliance standards.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Pipeline Patrol Officer, you will:

• Patrol assigned pipeline routes daily and identify any access or security issues
• Monitor external works within 3m of transmission assets to ensure compliance
• Report and record safety breaches, infringements and site alterations
• Liaise with property owners, contractors, councils, and clients
• Communicate daily/weekly updates to the Pipeline Security Coordinator
• Attend various locations after hours as part of a standby roster
• Participate in toolbox meetings, safety initiatives and required training
• Support trainees and contribute to a positive safety culture

This role is essential in maintaining the security, integrity and safety of Victoria’s gas transmission network

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Knowledge

• Minimum 5 years’ industry or related experience
• Gas pipeline experience, including patrol and inspection (highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of AS/NZ/ISO standards and Victorian Gas Industry legislation
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and quality principles
• Ability to assess hazards, identify risks, and report incidents accurately

Mandatory Requirements

• Construction Induction (White Card)
• First Aid Certificate
• First Attack Firefighting
• Pipeline patrol/inspection training (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Driver Licence
