Under the direct supervision of the Park Management, the DCPRD Park Attendant will perform various duties at park facilities operated by the Dorchester County Parks and Recreation Department. This is to include, but not limited to, providing information to the public, accurately operating a register, enforcing rules, and customer service. This position requires early morning/late night, weekend and holiday work.

Examples of duties

• Communicate with supervisors and coworkers on a regular basis
• Ability to provide general park information
• Respond to special requests, complaints and suggestions from park visitors in an effective manner
• Participate in the set up/breakdown and implementation of park special events
• Responsible for the cleanliness and general upkeep of park facilities
• Ensure that all activities and operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures and policies
• Enforce rules, safety regulations and general facility rules for the visitors
• Perform other duties as required
Gate
• Operate a Point of Sale system or cash register and correctly account for visitor admission, including passes, coupons, etc.
• Accurately handle different forms of payment
• Monitor the entrance and exit of the park
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment
Rental Attendant
• Provide equipment rentals (pedal boats, kayaks, canoes, SUPs, picnic packs, etc.)
• Provide facility rental support (picnic shelters, pavilion, tents, picnic tables, etc.)
• Operate a Point of Sale system or cash register and accurately handle different forms of
payment
• Ability to work in a physically demanding position and in an outdoor environment
• Provide routine maintenance and upkeep of rental equipment and facilities
Food/Concessions Attendant
• Accurately take and process customer food orders and deliver in a timely manner
• Operate a Point of Sale system or cash register and accurately handle different forms of
payment
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
Office Attendant
• Ability to operate a register and computer software applications, take reservations, conduct
membership and ticket sales, conduct retail sales, stocking and inventory
• Accurately handle different forms of payment
• Work will generally be conducted indoors
Maintenance Attendant
• Responsible for general custodial duties and general upkeep of park facilities
• Perform day to day duties on grounds, athletic field and building maintenance
• Ability to work in a physically demanding position and in an outdoor environment

Qualifications

Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Must attend and successfully complete all training programs
deemed necessary by DCPRD.

Dorchester County operates under a Council Administrator form of government and has 766 full‐time positions. A seven‐member County Council is elected by district and provides policy direction to the County. The County Council appoints the County Administrator, the County Clerk, the County Attorney, and the Delinquent Tax Collector.

The County Administrator is responsible for the administration of all departments under the control of the County Council. The present County administrator has been in the position since 2004 and is assisted by a Deputy County Administrator and a Chief Financial Officer.
