As an Anlauf Fabrik Engineer specializing in Electrical/Electronic (EE) assembly, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful launch and ramp-up of new vehicle production. You will be responsible for optimizing assembly processes, resolving production issues, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the EE assembly area. Your work will directly impact on the quality, readiness and timely delivery of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform digital buildability checks (DBBK) for EE systems (wiring harness, control units, sensors, connectors).

  • Validate:
    • Assembly feasibility (accessibility, routing, fixing points)
    • Hand/tool accessibility and assembly trajectory
    • Mounting force/effort and serviceability.
  • Pre-planning & integration of new model to production
  • Ensure buildability of new model
  • Analyze and improve assembly processes to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
  • Identify and resolve production issues in EE assembly using root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Design and implement fixtures, tooling, and equipment to improve assembly efficiency, ergonomics, and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, quality, maintenance) for seamless integration of new products and processes.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to product development teams.
  • Support the introduction of new models and engineering changes.
  • Validate parts for assembly issues, identifying root causes and proposing solutions, considering assembly requirements and part drawings.
  • Manage and resolve issues with stakeholders using problem management tools within defined timeframes.
  • Maintain regular communication with cross-functional teams and counterpart physical engineers in the plant during hardware builds.
  • Participate in project synchronization meetings and cross-departmental working groups from prototype to series production.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, with assembly process experience preferred.
  • Digital or Plant experience in assembly validation is preferred; experience in Trim, Chassis & Final assembly (TCF) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, and quality control principles.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA) for tooling and fixture design.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of digital assembly software (Teamcenter, IC.IDO), part drawings, and tolerance concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset.

Qualifikationen

Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):
• Proficiency in German language.
• Experience with automotive EE Systems (wiring harness, ECUs & Connectors) assembly processes.
• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques.
•Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

  • Knowledge of Mercedes-Benz DBBK / STARK principles (advantage).
