Summary
Under the general supervision of the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator, the Reformer Pilates Instructor is responsible for the preparation, planning, and instruction of Pilates classes. This position delivers high-quality private, semi-private, and group Reformer Pilates classes while promoting safe equipment use, effective class structure, and overall participant wellness.
Instructors are compensated at 1.25 times their hourly rate, which includes an additional 15 minutes beyond scheduled class time to allow for guest check-in, room setup, and end-of-class wrap-up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruct and lead private, semi-private, and group fitness classes under the guidance of the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator
- Deliver fun, safe, and innovative classes to maintain interest and participation in fitness and wellness programs
- Educate prospective and current guests about classes and upcoming events to encourage participation
- Collaborate with the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator to develop and introduce new class offerings
- Maintain accurate class attendance records and assist with program registration
- Maintain required certifications and ensure timely renewals
- Dress in a professional and family-friendly manner
- Apply knowledge of kinesiology and physiology to safely instruct participants of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels
- Enforce facility and class policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, staff, participants, parents, volunteers, and community members
- Provide excellent guest service by answering questions and resolving concerns
- Secure an appropriate substitute when unable to teach a scheduled class
- Assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining fitness and audio equipment
- Report issues or concerns to the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator
- Identify and recommend equipment, facility, or operational improvements to support safety, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility
- Follow safety protocols, anticipate unsafe conditions, and take appropriate action to prevent accidents
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Equipment
- Moderate to loud noise levels
- Indoor and outdoor work environments with possible exposure to the elements
- Travel by automobile may be required for meetings, workshops, or off-site recreation activities
- High level of physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, jumping, stretching, and speaking
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision
- Regular use of fitness equipment such as reformers, weights, resistance bands, fitness balls, and mats
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check prior to employment
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire
- Current Pilates certification through Club Pilates, Peak Pilates, or a comparable accredited organization (minimum 200 hours; 500 hours preferred)
- Preferred minimum of one year of experience teaching Mat and Reformer Pilates
- Availability to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Hyland Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District, established in 1955, has the honor of being the first park and recreation district in the State of Colorado.
