Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital seeking PICU APPs in Charlotte, NC. Includes Neonatal, critical care, emergency servicesand includescardio-thoracic surgery.Patients are typically intubatedonventilators and/or have hemodynamic instability. The focus is on very invasive procedures and the hemodynamic management ofvery criticalpatients.Managesventilator settings,vasopressorsand solve complex clinical cases. Schedule includes a mixed rotation of shifts covering weekdays, nights,swing,holidaysand weekends. (Greater than 20% of FTE includes weekend and/or nightcoverage.).
Essential Functions
Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
Recordsfindings of examinations,assessmentsandplan of care
Performs a wide range of surgical and/or medical procedures.
Writesappropriate prescriptionsand administers medications.
Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations.
Determinestreatment plan forpatient
Documentsall patient encounters,recordsobservations, interventions, and actions in a medicallyappropriate manneron the patient's medical record.
Demonstratesappropriate criticalthinking, interpersonalskillsand the ability to prioritize and concentrate.
Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
Attends,participatesand contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested.
Cardiothoracic Surgery Setting with less than 5 yearsCVTSexperience
Manages STS Database data collectionpreand post-operatively.
Performs clinic duties one day a week withassignedphysician.
Provides weeknight Call on a Q3 or Q4 rotation; weekend Call responsibilities on a Q3 or Q4 rotation.
Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping,pushingand pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Mustpossessintactsense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.
Education, Experience and Certifications.
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in thestate one works Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SCrequired.BLSrequiredper policyguidelineswithexpirationdate greater than90 daysfrom date of beginning practice. Demonstratesappropriate criticalthinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.
Nurse Practitioner
Master's Degree orDoctorate of NursingPracticerequired License to practice as a Registered Nurserequired Certificationin the area ofpractice from a nationally recognizedcertifyingbodyrequired ACNP, AGACNP, PNP-AC or NNP board certification preferred according to population served.
Physician Assistant
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant programrequired;Master's Degreepreferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
