Job Description

Sandvik has an opportunity for a Picking Lead position in Alachua, Florida USA (greater Gainesville, FL area).

In this role, you'll coordinate the flow of daily picking activity that keeps our production lines moving — assigning work, tracking progress, owning device accountability, and serving as the primary communication link between pickers, warehouse leadership, and the broader manufacturing organization. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, take pride in accuracy, and enjoy keeping people and parts moving in the right direction, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Assign and prioritize daily picking tasks across the warehouse team based on production schedules, urgent releases, and shifting operational needs based off rig-specific needs.
  • Monitor warehouse email, radio traffic, and the WMS/ERP (LEAN) queue to identify newly released or time-critical picks and reroute work accordingly. (50%)
  • Track open picks, completion status, and pick accuracy throughout the shift, and provide regular updates to warehouse leadership on order status, productivity, and bottlenecks. (At workstation, computer)
  • Maintain accountability for warehouse tablets, scanners, and handheld devices — including daily distribution, collection, condition checks, and loss/damage reporting.
  • Escalate operational issues, inventory discrepancies, equipment problems, and resource constraints that impact picking performance, on-time fulfillment, or safety.
  • Model and enforce compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures, including Sandvik's Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 45001:2018) standards.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or technical certificate preferred.
  • 2+ years of warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing logistics experience required.
  • At least 6–12 months in a lead, key operator, coordinator, or similar working-lead capacity strongly preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred; must be willing and able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control as far as performing transactions using the RF scanner and tablet, and order fulfillment workflows.
  • Proficiency with ERP (LEAN) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and act on picking productivity, accuracy, and on-time fulfillment KPIs at the shift level.`
  • Sharp attention to detail and a bias for accuracy.

The Way You Work

  • Clear, professional communicator — comfortable directing peers, delivering shift updates, and de-escalating floor-level issues across radio, email, Teams, and in person.
  • Confident giving direction to fellow team members and redirecting performance when needed, while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Proactive problem-solver who surfaces issues early with proposed solutions rather than waiting for direction.
  • Collaborative with pickers, supervisors, planners, and assemblers — and trusted with sensitive employee information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role is based on the warehouse floor and requires:

  • Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for the majority of the shift.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment with variable temperatures, noise exposure, and forklift traffic.
  • Consistent use of required PPE.
  • Successful completion of a non-DOT physical, audiogram, and lift test as part of Sandvik's "Fit for Work" program.

Benefits

We offer a competitive total rewards package, including:

  • Health care coverage (medical, dental, vision, prescription, telemedicine) starting 30 days after hire.
  • Paid vacation with up to 80 hours rollover.
  • Paid parental leave (eligibility after 12 months)
  • 401(k) with 5% annual salary contribution + 50% match on the first 6% starting 90 days after hire.
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support.
  • A diverse, inclusive workplace where innovation thrives.
