Job Description

You’ve put in the hard yards. You know Medicare, DVA and the NDIS inside out, and you can manage a caseload without someone checking over your shoulder. What you want now is a clinic that trusts your clinical judgement, backs you properly, and is in a place you’d actually want to live.

That’s Port Macquarie.

Proactive Health is a national network of more than 40 allied health businesses across 350+ locations in Australia. We bring independent clinic owners together under one standard of clinical excellence. You get the governance, development and support of a large organisation, and you still work in a practice that knows its community by name.

Here, you’ll join [clinic name], a three clinic group in and around Port Macquarie led by Jose De Jesus. Jose is a physio and EP himself, so he understands the job. He knows what good clinical work looks like and what it takes to do it well. You’ll work alongside exercise physiologists every day, with visiting podiatry and social work, so complex clients get coordinated care.

Your Week

Your caseload covers [DVA, Medicare EPC, NDIS, Home Care Packages, workers’ compensation, CTP and private clients — confirm with Jose]. On Monday you might see a post surgical knee straight after a DVA client managing chronic back pain. On Tuesday you could be across at one of the other clinics, then handing a deconditioned client over to the EP team for a strength program. Your days are varied, and your clinical reasoning gets a proper workout.

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Assessing, diagnosing and treating a broad musculoskeletal caseload across all ages
  • Building individualised, evidence based treatment plans and seeing them through to real outcomes
  • Managing clients across multiple funding streams with confidence and accurate billing
  • Working closely with the EP team on shared clients, from rehab to long term conditioning
  • Building strong relationships with local GPs, surgeons and referrers
  • Growing your own caseload and contributing to the success of the clinic
  • Keeping your clinical documentation in line with AHPRA standards and Proactive Health’s governance framework

Port Macquarie is a coastal lifestyle with a real community. You’re close to beaches and the Hastings River, and the town has its own airport for easy trips to Sydney or Brisbane. Housing costs a fraction of what it does in the city. Your clinic hours finish, and then you get your evenings back. Jose has built up a tight-nit team that works together collaboratively.

Requirements

  • A recognised degree in Physiotherapy
  • Current general registration with AHPRA
  • Experience working in Australian private practice, with confidence across Medicare, DVA and NDIS [confirm minimum years with Jose]
  • Current professional indemnity insurance, or willingness to obtain it
  • A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel between clinics
  • A National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, current or willing to obtain
  • A NSW Working with Children Check, current or willing to obtain
  • Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and communication skills
  • A self directed approach, with the confidence to manage your own caseload and build referral relationships

Nice to have, but not essential: workers’ compensation or CTP experience, an interest in chronic disease or aged care, and experience working in a mixed physio and EP team.

Benefits

→ A salary that reflects your experience: $85k to $100k + super, discussed openly at interview

→ Clinical autonomy, with a licensee who’s a clinician himself and trusts you to run your caseload

→ An established three clinic group with existing referral base and patient demand

→ The Proactive Health Academy, with structured CPD and professional development to keep you at the front of your profession

→ Peer support from an experienced physio and EP team, and help available when you want it

→ Clear career pathways into senior clinician, team lead, clinic management or ownership roles, at your pace

→ Staff rewards and wellbeing support, including retail discounts, wellbeing center access, and a team that checks in on each other

→ The independence of private practice backed by a national network across 350+ locations
