
Practices within a client and family centred care model and the vision and values of the organization. Utilizes advanced clinical knowledge in pelvic dysfunction and incontinence to provide physiotherapy assessment, treatment and education to clients with bladder and bowel disorders leading to pain and/or incontinence. Provides clinical educational activities to individuals and groups and evaluates their effectiveness. Consults, collaborates and confers with academic and professional colleagues to initiate interdisciplinary research and actively participates in research. Develops research proposals and conducts approved physiotherapy research and special projects in collaboration with relevant personnel. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC). Post graduate completion of Physical Therapy Approach to Incontinence Levels 1 and 2 or equivalent education in female urinary incontinence, dyspareunia, male urinary incontinence and/or pelvic floor dysfunction and rehabilitation. Three (3) years’ recent related experience including one year’s experience in related bladder and bowel incontinence disorders.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practice.Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology relevant to the position.Knowledge of conditions where internal pelvic floor assessment and intervention are indicated.Working knowledge of the theory and practice of manual muscle testing, exercise physiology, manual therapy techniques and education and lifestyle modificationKnowledge of correct posture and treatment of postural problems.Demonstrated ability to effectively use electrical stimulation, biofeedback and ultrasound with knowledge of the indications and contra-indications for their use.Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice.Knowledge of research process and methodology.Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Demonstrated skill in the use of equipment and in techniques appropriate to the treatment of clients.Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, motivate and coach and to develop educational programs and materials.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-to-one and in writing.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader, motivator and facilitator.Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
