Practice Details

Sanford Health has an immediate opening for a BC/BE Fellowship-trained Sleep Medicine Physician with a background in Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, or Neurology to join a well-established practice in Fargo, ND. Option for 100% Sleep practice or 50/50 split between Sleep and your base specialty.

• Department includes 2 MDs and 7 APPs
• No standard call
• Sleep clinic and lab are integrated at one location. With outreach, sleep lab is 14 beds total
• Sleep clinic has all types of evaluation and treatment (EX: PSG, HST, MSLT, MWT, Inspire, advanced BiPAP modalities)

A variety of schools and universities, a vibrant business community and a robust downtown are just a few reasons why people love to call the Fargo area home.Sleep Medicine privileges include the ability to admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide consultation and treatment ot patients of all agres presenting with conditions or disorders of sleep, including sleep-related breathing disorders (subh as obstructive sleep apnes), circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia, parasomnias, disorders or excessive sleepiness (e.g., narcolepsy), sleep-related movement disorders, and other conditions pertaining to the sleep-wake cycle.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated through the evaluation of at least 100 patients, reflective of the scope of privileges requested, in the past 12 months or successful completion of an accredited residency or clinical fellowship in the past 12 months. Of those, 25 should carry a sleep disorder other than sleep-disordered breathing, such as insomnia, parasomnias, narcolepsy, and other disorders of excessive daytime sleepiness.
More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited fellowship program in sleep medicine, and/or current subspecialty certification or active participation in the examination process (with achievement of certification as specified below) leading to subspecialty certification in sleep medicine by the relevant ABMS board or completion of a CAQ by the relevant AOA board. Current certification by the AASM is acceptable for applicants who became certified prior to 2007.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Sleep Medicine or a foreign equivalent accepted by the board. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entity’s policy for grandfather exceptions)
