Job Description

The Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medicine Golisano Children’s invites applications for a basic science tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. We seek an outstanding candidate with an MD-PhD degree and postdoctoral research training, with research interests in neonatal lung biology, lung development, pulmonary immunology, or related areas of developmental and translational biology.

The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program focused on understanding mechanisms of lung development, injury, repair, and disease in the developing lung. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths in neonatal lung biology, pulmonary immunology, developmental biology, tissue-resident immune cells, and translational pulmonary research are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Division of Neonatology has a strong history of research in lung development and neonatal lung disease and is home to nationally recognized programs in pulmonary biology and developmental research. The University of Rochester is a major site within the LungMAP Consortium, providing opportunities for collaboration with investigators studying lung development, cell biology, immunology, and mechanisms of pulmonary disease across the lifespan. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop collaborations across the University and with investigators within the LungMAP Consortium and other national research networks.

The candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program with strong potential for extramural funding through the NIH and other agencies. The position offers opportunities for collaboration with investigators in Pediatrics, Pulmonary Medicine, Immunology, Microbiology and Immunology, Biomedical Engineering, and other departments across the University of Rochester.

The successful applicant will receive a competitive start-up package, dedicated laboratory space, and access to a wide range of state-of-the-art core facilities. The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and adjacent Schools of Arts, Sciences and Engineering provide a highly collaborative research environment with opportunities for cross-disciplinary interactions and collaborations.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold an MD and PhD degree and have completed appropriate postdoctoral research training. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of research productivity and a clear potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program.

Research expertise in neonatal lung biology, lung development, pulmonary immunology, developmental biology, tissue-resident immune cells, or related areas is particularly desirable. Candidates with research programs that complement and extend the University of Rochester's strengths in neonatal and pulmonary research are encouraged to apply.
