Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director

Ochsner Health is seeking an accomplished and visionary Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director to lead and further develop its high powered, clinically oriented Rheumatology Fellowship Program. Ochsner Health is an integrated healthcare system with more than 40,000 employees and over 4,900 employed and affiliated physicians in over 90 medical specialties and subspecialties. It operates 47 hospitals and more than 370 health and urgent care centers across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the Gulf South.

About the Fellowship

  • ACGME‑accredited, 2‑year program
  • Two fellows per year (total of four fellows in training)
  • Strong emphasis on clinical excellence, hands‑on experience, and faculty mentorship
  • Robust exposure to complex and diverse rheumatologic disease

Faculty & Clinical Environment

  • 7 board‑certified rheumatologists
  • 2 experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Collegial, collaborative division with a strong clinical mission
  • Integrated, system‑based practice within Ochsner Health
  • Clinic-embedded pharmacist
  • Availability of musculoskeletal ultrasound

Position Highlights

The Program Director will provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership for the fellowship program, ensuring excellence in:

  • Fellow education and clinical training
  • Curriculum development and continuous program improvement
  • Accreditation compliance and trainee evaluation
  • Recruitment and professional development of fellows

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of rheumatologists within a high‑volume, clinically focused program supported by an established and respected health system.

Ideal Candidate

  • Board‑certified rheumatologist
  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience in medical education and clinical teaching
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and mentorship skills
  • Passion for building and sustaining an outstanding fellowship program
  • Clinical research interest in lupus is a plus
