Under the direction of the Director – Patient Safety, the Program Manager – Physician Quality provides organization-wide leadership, coordination, and subject matter expertise for physician and advanced practice provider (APP) professionalism and wellness programs, peer review, professional practice evaluation, and related provider quality processes. This role leads the implementation, management, and oversight of the physician and APP professionalism program, while also supporting physician and APP wellness, quality, and performance improvement initiatives across Mercy. The Program Manager – Physician Quality partners with physician leaders, medical staff leadership, hospital executives, quality and patient safety teams, and other key stakeholders to promote and improve provider performance, professionalism, and high-quality of care. This position performs duties consistent with Mercy’s mission, vision, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Qualifications:

  • Required Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in clinical healthcare, health sciences, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • Preferred Education:
    • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Required Experience:
    • Seven (7) years or more of clinical healthcare, healthcare quality, patient safety, medical staff, or related healthcare experience required.
    • Five (5) years or more working directly with physicians and/or physician leadership.
  • Preferred Experience
    • Experience supporting physician professionalism, peer review, clinical/professional practice evaluations, physician quality, or patient safety preferred.
  • Required Licensure:
    • None
  • Preferred Licensure:
    • Nursing or other clinical licensure is preferred.
  • Required Certifications:
    • Healthcare quality or patient safety certification, or willingness to obtain a healthcare quality or patient safety certification within one year of hire (e.g., Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or Healthcare Quality & Management (HCQM))
