The West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, invites applications for a Per Diem Pediatric Electrophysiology This position is open to candidates eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The selected candidate will primarily practice at our main campus in Morgantown, WV.

The successful candidate will join our dynamic and expanding Division of Pediatric Cardiology, which serves a diverse patient population both at the WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital and across the state through our comprehensive outreach program. This program includes diagnostic testing at various outreach clinics. Our division currently includes specialists in fetal cardiology, general pediatric cardiology, advanced imaging, interventional catheterization, both noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, and preventive cardiology.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care in pediatric cardiology with a specialization in electrophysiology.
  • Collaborate with advanced practice professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in the teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree, or foreign equivalent
  • Eligibility for a state medical license
  • Completion of a Pediatric residency program and Pediatric Cardiology fellowship program.
  • Additional formal training in pediatric electrophysiology is required
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology
  • For consideration at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, candidates must demonstrate a track record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment

About WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital:

WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital is the leading tertiary care center for West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Southeastern Ohio. It is home to the state's only cardiothoracic surgery program offering comprehensive surgical interventions for all congenital heart defects, from complex single-ventricle neonates to adults with congenital heart disease. Our hospital also features a robust ECMO program with dedicated pediatric perfusionists for both cardiac and non-cardiac support.

The new 150-bed WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital includes:

  • Dedicated cardiac operating rooms and a hybrid cardiac EP and interventional catheterization lab.
  • Pediatric cardiac anesthesia staff.
  • 34 pediatric beds, the only Level 4 NICU in the state, a dedicated Cancer Institute, a Pediatric Emergency Department with Rapid Care, 15 PICU beds, and 8 CICU beds.
  • Designation as a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to achieve Level 1 status.
  • A 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic at the Birthing Center.
  • J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit, and Magnet status for nursing excellence.
