Job Description

NorthBay Health is seeking a Board-Certified, Licensed Neurosurgeon to join our renowned healthcare team in Northern California. Located between the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, scenic Napa Valley, and the cultural city of Sacramento, NorthBay Health provides an ideal location for both personal and professional development with an emphasis on work-life balance.

The Neurosurgeon will manage a broad range of complex neurological conditions and procedures, offering both inpatient and outpatient care. This role will involve diagnosing, treating, and surgically managing conditions of the brain, spine, and nervous system, collaborating with other specialists to ensure comprehensive care for all patients.

The Department of Neurosurgery at NorthBay Health offers specialized care for a wide range of neurological disorders, including brain tumors, spinal conditions, trauma, degenerative diseases, and more.   • Schedule Combined clinic and surgery 4 days a week, with one admin day
  • Call Schedule 24 hour call shifts 0700-0700
  • Call Ratio 3-7 days per month as needed for coverage
  • Average Patient Census/Case Load clinic 15-20 pt’s, surgery based on the cases scheduled. Adult and Geriatric populations.
  • Team Support Physician Assistants
  • Practice Setting Inpatient and Outpatient settings.
  • Equipment or Services Advanced Neurosurgical tools, MRI, CT, Neuro Navigation systems, Spinal Imaging, Electromyography (EMG).

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Diagnose and manage neurological conditions, including brain and spinal tumors, epilepsy, vascular disorders, traumatic brain injuries, degenerative spinal diseases, and other neuro-related disorders.
  • Surgical Procedures Perform a variety of neurosurgical procedures, such as brain and spine surgeries, minimally invasive techniques, craniotomies, spinal fusions, and stereotactic surgeries.
  • Collaborative Care Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, oncologists, physical therapists, and other specialists to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Post-Operative Care Manage post-surgical care for patients, including recovery, rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up care.
  • Emergency Neurosurgery Respond to urgent and emergent neurological cases, including trauma, stroke, and other time-sensitive surgical interventions.
  • Research and Innovation Participate in research studies and clinical trials, contributing to the advancement of neurosurgical practices.
  • Education Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and post-surgical recovery plans. Provide mentorship to residents and fellows.
  • Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory Adherence Ensure compliance with all relevant health regulations and standards established by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and other governing bodies.
  • Education MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited Neurosurgery Residency Program. Fellowship in Spine Surgery preferred
  • Certification Board-certified
  • Licensure Valid medical license to practice in California.
  • Experience Proven experience in neurosurgery with expertise in treating complex neurological conditions, performing surgeries, and managing pre- and post-operative care.
  • Skills Strong surgical, diagnostic, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care.
  • Collaboration Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Communication Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.

Compensation and Perks

  • Income Guarantee $874,368 (Based on 1.0 FTE employed)
  • Sign-On Bonus: Available up to $50,000
  • Relocation Available for qualified candidates up to $20,000
  • Retention Bonus starting year 2: $30,000

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

NorthBay Health is primarily an onsite organization due to the nature of healthcare. Some roles may allow hybrid or remote work based on business needs.

Remote work is not supported in Washington, Ohio, Wyoming, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or outside of the United States.
