West Virginia University School of Medicine and the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute are seeking a Leader in Neurosurgical Spine Surgery
Duties: The WVU Neurosurgery Chief of Spine will provide strategic oversight and clinical direction for a growing spine program in conjunction with the Orthopaedic Spine Director. The Chief will oversee the development of a CAST accredited neurosurgical spine fellowship, lead the effort toward Joint Commission: Advanced Certificate in Spine Surgery, lead system efforts to track quality outcomes, and streamline referral processes and protocols. This position will be based at the main academic medical center in Morgantown, WV – The J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. The Department of Neurosurgery provides coverage for six additional hospitals across the WVU Medicine system. In 2025, the Department of Neurosurgery performed more than 2,800 spine procedures.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience in an academic setting. Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Candidate must have completed an ACGME accredited neurosurgery residency program and a spine fellowship. All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.
