Here, you will be part of a team who shares your passion for helping people achieve improved health outcomes. Explore rewarding opportunities for physicians, clinical staff and non-patient-facing roles. Join us and discover the meaning behind Caring. Connecting. Growing together.

The Provider Communications Team within Optum Behavioral Health has a singular focus: Ensuring our providers receive clear, concise, applicable and actionable information from us. Our goal is to make it easier for them to deliver quality care to our members and complete the administrative tasks that go hand-in-hand with delivering that care. You'll have a direct impact on the relationship our 500,000+ providers have with us.

The role manages two primary responsibilities within the Optum Behavioral Health Provider Communications Team - A monthly provider digital newsletter, and development of strategic communication plans and materials.

  • As editor of the provider newsletter, you will direct all aspects of the channel: Editorial development, coordinating a small team of writers, pre-production through production tasks, quality control and analytics. You'll also lead long-term planning and evolution to ensure we continue to meet provider needs
  • As a strategic communications consultant, you'll work with business partners across the organization to drive provider awareness, engagement and action on key initiatives. You'll guide communication planning and development for a wide variety of programs, often working with cross-functional teams. Through your leadership, you'll bring the provider voice and needs to the forefront

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Top of Mind monthly newsletter program from end to end: From content planning to writing, editing and proofreading; through production, distribution and analytics; along with long-term strategic planning
  • Lead the planning and development of strategic communications programs for core initiatives, in collaboration with key stakeholders and implementation teams
  • Facilitate discussions with program stakeholders and business partners across the enterprise to build data-driven and provider-centric awareness of communication needs, preferences and touchpoints
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to simplify and streamline the provider communications experience. Analyze data to draw insights and make recommendations for future planning. Identify gaps and opportunities in the provider communication process and workflows, including resolving any technical, operational and organizational challenges
  • Support and collaborate on the design and implementation of new programs and communication channels that build/nurture positive relationships between Optum Behavioral Health, providers and practice managers
  • Collaborate on resource planning and the development of guidelines and criteria to ensure communication and training efforts meet provider needs and support business goals
  • Ensure that communication programs are strategic and meet content, brand and quality standards. Maintain brand standards for Provider Communications team

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience writing for a digital environment, including copywriting, e-newsletters, email and web, with the ability to translate complex information and jargon into clear and actionable messaging
  • 8+ years of experience developing, implementing and managing strategic communication plans. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to prioritize projects and align resources appropriately
  • 5+ years of provider relations communications experience, including 3+ years working with Medicare and Medicaid regulations
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects that require an exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to highlight and manage potential roadblocks and challenges before they occur
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and technical teams
  • Proven project management skills, with aptitude for managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Driver's License and access to reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a digital newsletter or other regular digital communication channel
  • Ability to lead projects through ambiguity with flexibility and confidence
  • Demonstrated ability to pivot quickly when issues occur and plans change, whether technical, regulatory or program implementation
