Physician Assistant/PMHNP - Acute Psychiatric Services - Full-time (261399)

Hennepin Healthcare's Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) serves those in emotional crisis with 24-hour, seven-day-a-week crisis counseling, assessment, and referral. Our APS center is located adjacent to our Emergency Department in downtown Minneapolis.

We currently have an opening for a full-time Physician Assistant or PMHNP. A generous benefits package accompanies our provider positions. Schedule flexible and to be determined by needs of department as well as preferred candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform initial and ongoing assessment of psychiatric and medical needs of clients presenting to APSProvide relevant patient and family educationAssess clients for release of transportation holdsAssess clients for hospitalization need, if appropriate, place on 72-hour holdOrder restraints and seclusions, if neededProvide psychiatric consultation services to patients housed elsewhere in the hospitalFormulate appropriate differential diagnoses based on history and physical examPerform face-to-face assessments of clients in restraints or seclusionMedication management of both medical issues and psychiatric emergenciesPerform physician exams on clients prior to transfer to other hospitalsOrder and interpret labs and diagnostic tests, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:Previous experience in Psychiatric careMaster's degree in Physician Assistant studies or Nursing from an accredited program Possession of a valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in MinnesotaIf NP, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner CertificationSALARY

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant pay is based on years since licensure and specialty area.
