Salary Range:

The Physician Assistant (PA) in Thoracic Surgery provides advanced clinical care within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Department of Surgery, supporting the management of patients with complex thoracic conditions. This role functions in a high-acuity surgical and intensive care environment.

Salary Range: $138,963- $162,123


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical & Surgical Care:

- Assess, diagnose, and manage thoracic surgery patients

- Assist in thoracic surgical procedures (open, VATS, robotic)

- Manage pre/peri/postoperative care

ICU & Critical Care:

- Manage ICU and step-down patients

- Monitor ventilatory and hemodynamic status

- Manage complications

Procedures:

- Chest tubes

- Central/arterial lines

- Thoracentesis

Care Coordination:

- Daily rounds and documentation

- Manage consults/admissions/discharges

Collaboration:

- Partner with Division Chief, physicians, APPs, and hospital leadership

- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (ICU, OR, inpatient units, etc.)

- Participate in leadership meetings, operational planning, and case discussions as appropriate

Patient Education:

- Educate patients and families

Quality & Compliance:

- Documentation and coding

- Quality initiatives

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred

- Experience in thoracic or cardiothoracic service lines

- Familiarity with high-acuity, surgical, and ICU-related workflows
