JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: Y-PA-3499167 Profession: Physician Assistant Specialty: Surgery Cardiothoracic Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Flagstaff, AZ Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Oct 24, 2026 – Jan 23, 2027 Clinical Shift Schedule: 7a-3p (on scheduled clinical days) On-Call Shift Schedule: 3p-7a PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults, Geriatrics Patient Volume/Census: 10–15 CVICU/step down patients per day plus 1–2 surgeries Case Mix: Cardiothoracic surgery, CVICU, step down patients FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 199 beds EMR System: Cerner PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Credentialing Timeline: 30 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Temporary pacemaker removal Chest tube removal IABP removal Aline placement Proficient with endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) Recent cardiothoracic surgery experience JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active Arizona PA license or eligibility Board: PA Board Certified or eligible (NCCPA) DEA: DEA registration required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA) Experience: Minimum 3 years in cardiothoracic surgery with EVH Other Qualifications: Graduation from an NCCPA-approved PA program or Master’s in Nursing; Acute Care NP program if NP track DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Manage CVICU and step-down cardiothoracic patients (10–15 per day). Perform surgeries as needed (1–2 per day). Perform temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and arterial line placement. Provide on-call coverage from 3p–7a. Utilize endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) as required.
