JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: VP Physician Practice Ops

JOB SUMMARY:

The Physician Assistant will be a key individual to our practice in providing exceptional care to our patients. The individual that fills this role will have the opportunity to work alongside our physicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This opportunity will include working in the ASC under direct supervision of the operating physician. All activities must be conducted in a confidential, professional, and personable manner.

Adheres to staffing schedules, attendance policy, and cooperates with daily assignments as requested.

Demonstrates skills as a team player. As a Registered Nurse, shows appropriate delegation while directing ancillary personnel in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating patient care in the operating room according to accepted standards. May be requested to perform charge duties.

Provides direct patient care in clinical areas and demonstrates clinical competence.

Participates in orientation of new staff and peer evaluation process, ensures facility morale exemplifies the mission and values of the center.

Demonstrates ability to solve problems timely and constructively; maintains focus on improving the situation

Willingness to teach others and participate in competency programs.

Completes Health Stream in a timely manner annually.

Participates in all staff meetings for department and facility for informative and educational purposes.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of a Physician assistant program required, and non-restricted DEA for the state .
  • BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years' work experience required. Experience with orthopedic surgery is preferable.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English, with professional quality; use computer and
  • software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage

multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.

  • Able to perform any other tasks as assigned.

Exposure to Radiation. Personal protective equipment: Provided (gowns, gloves, goggles, masks, head cover, lead gowns) as needed/required.

Is knowledgeable to the Policy and Procedures of Sequoia and adhere to them in order to practice safely.

Documentation needs to be in clean, clear, concise and legible at all times.
