Atlantic Health is Seeking a Physician Assistant for Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery

Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey’s largest non-profit healthcare networks, is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join AMG Pediatric Orthopedics. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a well-established and supportive team dedicated to providing exceptional pediatric orthopedic care.

The Physician Assistant will work closely with the Pediatric Surgeon across outpatient and surgical sites in Morristown and Rockaway. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with no routine evening hours or call requirements. Occasional phone coverage will be needed.

A Physician Assistant hired by the Department of Orthopedics will function as a vital member of the orthopedic healthcare team. The Physician Assistant will respond to the needs of the pediatric orthopedic surgeon in the evaluation and follow up care of pediatric orthopedic patients. The PA will both collaboratively and independently see and manage patient care. This role includes administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as MRI, CT scans, X-rays and lab work, as well as interpreting results and assisting in orthopedic surgeries and in office procedures. Timely and efficient patient documentation is required.

This candidate should be a team player who works exceptionally well with pediatric patients and their families. They will be expected to work collaboratively with the orthopedic surgeon, office, and operating room staff daily.

Experience with Epic is preferred. Procedural skills including phlebotomy are strongly preferred.

This position has an academic research component and includes joining an existing IRB study, assistance writing and editing papers, and patient educational materials. Experience and interest in video creation and editing are helpful. The PA will assist in community outreach and philanthropy.

Qualifications

• Bachelors & Master’s degree required

• Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey

• ACLS or PALS and BLS required

• OR/Surgical experience is preferred

• 2+ years orthopedic experience as a PA is preferred

• Must have excellent communication and computer skills

• Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently
