Job Category: Health CareSports Medicine North, a multi-specialty orthopedic practice north of Boston, has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant to join its dynamic team. This well-regarded practice of 24 sub-specialty trained physicians offers a highly collegial and supportive work environment.
Highlights:
- Performs inpatient rounding at Beverly Hospital
- First assists as needed for surgical add-on cases
- Supports the physicians in the office by completing physical exams, obtaining medical histories, and documenting findings
- Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan
- Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
- Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines
- Instructs patients/families regarding medications and treatments
- Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention, surgical procedures and expectations in perioperative period
- Actively supports patient safety program; adheres to applicable patient safety standards including NQF Safe Practices
- Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation as necessary
- Conducts post-operative evaluations
- Call responsibilities
- Performs necessary administrative duties consistent with role including EMR and billing inputs
- Identifies emergency situations and uses sound judgement in instituting established procedures to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner
- Athenahealth EMR
- Four-day work week offered – 7am to 5pm (4-10 hour shifts)
- On-site ambulatory surgery center
- Office locations- Peabody, Beverly, Newburyport, Gloucester

QualificationsRequirements:
- Board Certified PA
- Massachusetts license
- Orthopedic experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply with an orthopedic rotation
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
