ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:
The Women’s Health Advanced Practice Provider works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care to our patients in an outpatient setting.
Please note, this is a per diem position with no guaranteed hours. Shifts may vary based on clinic needs but will be scheduled during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Per diem providers are required to work a minimum of two shifts per month. While the primary coverage need is at the Arlanza clinic, coverage at other Northern Inland Empire locations may occasionally be required, which may involve travel to other NHC sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Patient Care
- Administers or prescribes treatments and tests, including pap smears and pelvic/breast exams
- Conducts thorough consultations, medical histories, and physical examinations of patients
- Diagnoses and treats gynecological conditions, such as menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, infections, and menopause-related symptoms
- Provides prenatal care, including regular check-ups and screenings for pregnancies
- Offers family planning services, contraceptive counseling, and assists with contraceptive procedures
- Performs minor office-based procedures, such as IUD insertions/removals and implant insertions/removals
- Educates patients on reproductive health, preventative care, and treatment options
- Provides counseling and support to patients regarding family planning, fertility issues, and pregnancy-related concerns
Provider and Team Support
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, support staff, and other women's health practitioners to provide comprehensive patient care
- Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teams
- Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders
Clinical Administration
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records and ensures proper documentation of patient encounters
- Reviews patient files/records, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status
- Elicits and records information about patient medical history
- Examines patients for symptoms or physical information
- Orders and executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition
- Analyzes reports and findings of tests, examinations, and diagnoses to understand the patient’s current condition
- Determines and prescribes patient medications, dosages, and schedules dependent on their conditions and allergies
- Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patients from communicable diseases
- Documents patient visits, including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action
- Stays informed of organizational activities and promotes mission and goals
- Stays abreast of the latest advancements in women's health through continuing education, maintenance of certification, and professional development
- Reviews and responds to all forms of communication, such as emails, TEAMs messages and voice mails
- Functions at the highest level according to credentials and competency
- Impacts patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Physician Assistant
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required
- California State Physician Assistant License in good standing required
- Current CA DEA licensure is required and is to be maintained as a condition of employment
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- AHA-approved courses include an in-person, hands-on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques.
- Online-only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement.
- Completion of Physician Assistant program with specialization in women’s health required
- Board certification for women’s health or certified midwife required
Nurse Practitioner
- Master's degree in nursing required
- California Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nursing license in good standing is required
- Current CA DEA licensure is required and is to be maintained as a condition of employment
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- AHA-approved courses include an in-person, hands-on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques.
- Online-only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement.
- Board Certification (ANCC/AANPCB) or board eligible with certification within 12 months of hire, required.
- Experience with specialization in women’s health required
- Board certification for women’s health or certified midwife required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with conducting gynecological examinations, procedures, and obstetric care
- Knowledgeable about and experience with current evidence-based practices and guidelines in women's health
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work in an advanced capacity in electronic medical records, email, video conferencing systems, and common office software
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs/weight
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
COMPLIANCE:
- Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
- Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
- Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
- Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
- Maintains privacy of all patients, employees and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
- Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
- Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful
Pay Range: $124,100 - $191,000 annually, depending on experience (equivalent to $59.66–$91.82 per hour for per diem providers)
Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
