Job Description

McLeod Health is seeking a dedicated and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing Breast Surgery team at McLeod Breast Surgery Seacoast. Breast Surgery is a specialty focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of benign and malignant breast conditions. Our team is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care throughout every stage of a patient's breast health journey, from risk assessment and diagnosis to survivorship and postoperative care. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced breast surgeon while delivering high-quality care within a collaborative and supportive practice environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide comprehensive Breast Surgery care primarily in the outpatient setting, including independent clinic visits, postoperative follow-up care, survivorship management, and high-risk breast health assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with supervising physician Hannah Woriax, MD – Breast Surgery, supporting patients throughout diagnosis, treatment planning, recovery, and long-term follow-up.
  • Participate in the management of benign breast conditions, high-risk patients, cancer survivorship care, and postoperative surgical patients.
  • Team Composition: Work within a specialized breast surgery practice that includes 1 physician, 1 APP, 1 LPN, 2 Medical Assistants, 2 Clerical Associates, and Nurse Navigator support through the McLeod Cancer Service Line.
  • Work Schedule:
    • Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM-5:30 PM
    • Friday, 8:30 AM-1:00 PM
    • Patient Mix:
      • Inpatient care: 5%
      • Outpatient care: 95%
  • Daily Patient Volume:
    • Flexible patient schedules within APP-led clinics, including high-risk breast health, survivorship, and benign breast disease management.
  • Participate in a structured onboarding program that includes a minimum of one month of shadowing and mentorship with the supervising physician, with additional orientation tailored to the candidate's prior experience and gradual progression to independent patient care.
  • Call Schedule: Limited call responsibilities as needed to provide coverage when the supervising physician is out of office or on vacation.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced candidates strongly preferred, with at least 2 years of surgical or oncology-related experience; cumulative experience will be considered.
  • New graduates may be considered if they possess significant prior clinical exposure in surgery, oncology, or a closely related specialty.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, postoperative management, wound care, drain management, and recovery protocols preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and care coordination skills.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional, patient-centered care and supporting patients throughout their breast health journey.
