This role will provide both clinical and surgical support, working closely with fellowship-trained hand and sports medicine surgeons in a collaborative, high volume practice. OSA is a premier orthopaedic surgery practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients across the Merrimack Valley, southern New Hampshire, and communities northwest of Boston. Founded in Lowell in 1987, the practice has grown to include fifteen physicians.
Responsibilities:
Performs complete physical exams, obtains complete medical history, and records findings
Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan
Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
Performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing
Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines
Instructs patients/families regarding medications and treatments
Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention, surgical procedures, and expectations in perioperative period
Actively supports patient safety program; adheres to applicable patient safety standards including NQF Safe Practices
Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation as necessary
Conducts post-operative evaluations
Performs necessary administrative duties consistent with role including EMR and billing inputs
Identifies emergency situations and uses sound judgement in instituting established procedures to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner
Call requirement is approximately 1:7
Minimal hospital rounding except on call weekends

Work schedule – Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm

QualificationsRequirements:
Board Certified PA or NP (with RNFA)
Massachusetts licensure
