Position Summary
Washington Regional Medical System, Northwest Arkansas' only locally owned, locally governed, not-for-profit hospital and health system; is seeking a hospital-based Neurosurgery Physician Assistant to join our Washington Regional JB Hunt Transport Services Neuroscience Institute located in Northwest Arkansas. Our institute is comprised of 6 Neurosurgeons, 2 General Neurologists, 2 Neurohospitalists, 1 Vascular Neurologist, 2 Neurointerventional Radiologists, 1 Interventional Pain Management Physician, and 7 Advanced Practice Providers. Washington Regional maintains Advanced Spine Surgery Certification by The Joint Commission and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Inpatient and Outpatient responsibilities to include, assisting in OR, rounding on inpatients and providing care to clinic patients
Call rotation with other PAs
Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses
Order and perform diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests
Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
Prescribe and dispense medications
Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records
Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care, and encourage and promote preventative health care and positive health behaviors
Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics
Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects
Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Licensure and Certifications: Physician Assistant License and CPR, required. National certification, required
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a previous clinical role, required.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
