The Department of Otolaryngology at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. As the only group of fellowship trained head and neck/microvascular surgeons in the region, this position offers the chance to work as part of a progressive team that provides this valuable ENT Surgery to patients in need of head and neck cancer treatment. This position also serves as an excellent opportunity to learn about the comprehensive management of these complex cancers and grow as a cancer care provider.

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time position with no on-call or weekend expectations
  • Primary site: 50 New Scotland Avenue, Albany NY 12208

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in in-office procedures with the opportunity to learn and utilize flexible laryngoscopy.
  • Provide follow-up care to patients, including post-operative visits and inpatient care as appropriate.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to post-operative complications, ensuring timely intervention and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions as permitted by state regulations.
  • Educate patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, nutrition, growth, development, and disease prevention.
  • Respond to patient and family questions and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current NY licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Familiarity working in electronic medical records, Epic experience a plus
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification required
