The Cardiovascular Surgery Physician’s Assistant functions as a provider and coordinator of direct patient care and as a first assistant to the supervising surgeon. The Cardiovascular Physician’s Assistant performs tasks and services under the direct control and supervision of a state-approved supervising physician in accordance with the mission and philosophy, standards policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum
One year of experience in acute patient care with an emphasis on cardiac care
Successful completion of a clinical rotation in cardiac services.
Desired
One year clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in an acute care facility
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Current California Physician Assistant License
Certification by NCCPA, if not graduate from accredited ARC PA program
Current CPR certification
ACLS within 6 months of hire
Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff and Finance offices
Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application
Desired
Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public. Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused. Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students and new employees, and the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
