Job Description

The physical therapy assistant assists physical therapists in the implementation of patient rehabilitation programs to help improve patient mobility, function and strength.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assists patients in preparing for therapy and return trip. Assists with dressing and undressing and removing and putting on braces or supportive equipment, prostheses or crutches.
  • Records data progress during therapy sessions.
  • Measures and tracks range of motion.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Answers inquiries.
  • Assists patients with keeping track of counting exercises.
  • Cleans and prepares equipment for therapy sessions

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE:

Current Florida Physical Therapy Assistant License

EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy (APTA)

EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year experience in post-acute care or related setting preferred

SKILLS:

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dedication to patient care

  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Possess the ability to fulfill any office activities normally expected in an office setting, to include, but not limited to: remaining seated for periods of time to perform computer based work, participating in filing activity, lifting and carrying office supplies (paper reams, mail, etc.)
  • The position walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves continually during working hours.
  • Frequently lift and/or move over 50 pounds.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
  • Travel may be required to existing or new TOI locations.
