Job Description

The Physical Therapist Senior-Neuro will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive and advanced program for physical therapy. This position will include performing patient evaluations, goal setting, integrative treatment planning, follow-up assessments and ongoing patient and family education. Will interact regularly with the other members of the Restorative Neurology Team in maintaining integrated, multidisciplinary treatment plans for all patients within the program. Will have regular interactions with community resources such as vendors and national organizations in an effort to provide the highest level of advocacy and care for our patients. Has oversight of equipment utilization within the Center along with the awareness of available programs to access equipment. Opportunities to participate in and initiate clinical research trials, involving physical therapy and patient treatments and/or outcomes. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Physical Therapy required. Suitable combination of education, training or experience along with a California license in Physical Therapy is acceptable. Minimum three years of experience in the assigned discipline area.

Knowledge and Skills: Fluent in written and verbal English. Ability to speak clearly to gather information, hear on phone and in person. Ability to independently operate required equipment, assessment tools, copy machine, fax machine, answer telephone. Basic computer skills, familiarity with Windows Operating Systems preferred. Good communication skills with team members, patients and caregivers, physicians and general public. Cooperates with management and other associates in achieving organizational and department goals. Consistently demonstrates constructive interpersonal skills with staff, colleagues, patients and other customers (i.e. explores differing viewpoints and discusses solutions). Demonstrates empathy, warmth, responsibility, initiative, tact, objectivity, flexibility and creativity. Promotes professional and collegial relationships. Interact professionally and appropriately with others. Flexible with daily patient schedule, able to do several tasks simultaneously, attention to detail, ability to make favorable impressions, able to problem solve, reason and concentrate. Follows verbal and/or written instructions with minimum supervision. Quick thinking. Accepts and integrates clinical and administrative feedback and guidance. Ability to calculate, manipulate, interpret and analyze numbers. Assesses, evaluates, and synthesizes accumulated facts and figures to determine the correct action/intervention. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Currently licensed by California Board of Physical Therapy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
