The Physical Therapist performs supervisory and professional level duties under minimal supervision to improve or maintain student's level of motor functioning to meet IEP goals, and to facilitate optimal learning through the identification, evaluation, and execution of an educationally based therapeutic physical therapy program.
A Physical Therapist (PT) works collaboratively with other members of the IEP team to assess students and assist in developing a plan for integrating services. Additionally, therapists play a valuable role in assisting school administrators to address issues such as access to programs and facilities, building modifications or new construction, special transportation, curriculum development, safety and injury prevention, and technology.

Phoenix Union High School District is one of the largest high school districts in the country, with 20 schools, over 28,000 students, and nearly 3,000 employees. Phoenix Union covers 220-square miles of Arizona’s capital city. If the K-8 students in its 13 elementary partner schools were included, it would be among the 25 largest school districts in the United States, with over 110,000 students.
The District has 11 comprehensive high schools, four specialty small schools and three alternative schools and two micro schools.
Academically, there are over 500 courses to choose from. Rigor continues to be the emphasis, as the District offers more Honors, AP and other high level courses than ever before, and student enrollment in those classes is the highest ever.
