Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist to provide pre-education, early post mobility training, and individualized rehabilitation for patients within a fast-paced surgical center. This role focuses on safe recovery, optimizes functional outcomes, and supports smooth transitions across the continuum of care. The therapist collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promotes Mission, Vision, and Values of Surgery Partners, and abides by service standards.
  • Provides skilled physical therapy services, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups.
  • Conducts evaluations and treatments according to professional standards (APTA)

Patient Care

  • Deliver pre-surgical education, including expectations, exercises, and discharge planning
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with surgical protocols, clinical guidelines, and patient goals
  • Provide safe and effective postoperative mobility training and use of assistive devices
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Maintain a calm, supportive presence for patients and families throughout recovery.

Patient Safety & Education

  • Ensure patient safety by monitoring vital signs, recognizing post-operative complications, and syncope prevention.
  • Communicate patient progress and any concerns to the surgical team
  • Educate patients and caregivers on post-operative precautions, mobility techniques, and home exercise programs.
  • Identify and mitigate fall risks and support safe home discharges

Documentation & Compliance

  • Keeps thorough, timely, and compliant documentation as required by regulations and facility policies. Completes equipment billing accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to ASC policies, infection control protocols, and evidence-based practice guidelines
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and outcome tracking
  • Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff, seeking new learning opportunities according to licensure requirements.

Qualifications

  • Current UT Physical Therapist license in good standing
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Experience in orthopedic and acute rehabilitation is preferred
  • Familiarity with joint replacement and sports medicine protocols
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment

  • Requires standing, lifting, and assisting patients’ mobility throughout the day.
  • Required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full equipment)
  • Focus on same-day or short-stay orthopedic surgical cases
