Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Per Diem Physical Therapist, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered physical therapy services to individuals with a variety of diagnoses in the acute care setting. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.

The primary focus of this role is direct patient care and supporting patients in achieving optimal functional outcomes during their hospital stay.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong clinical skills in the acute care environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • A collaborative approach to patient care and teamwork, including sharing knowledge, providing and receiving constructive feedback, assisting colleagues when needed, and contributing to problem-solving efforts.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive, supportive, and learning-focused environment for patients and team members alike.

Salary: $77.85 - $97.31 per hour. May convert to a career.

Job Qualifications

  • Current and valid California Physical Therapist license required
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.

Current/former UC employees are subject to a personnel file review.
