The Physical Therapist II is responsible for the system wide administration, interpretation and evaluation of tests and measurements in the NICU. Plans and modifies treatment programs. Works with neonatal intensive care patients, pediatric intensive care patients, pediatric inpatients and outpatients, and developmental follow-up patients with advanced level clinical competency. Works as part of a multidisciplinary care team to provide evidence based, individualized family centered developmental care. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited college or university.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders or Equivalent. Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Pediatric population work, clinical observation, volunteer work, or relevant applicable experiences.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Consistent and dedicated NICU and/or pediatric experience. Spanish Proficiency
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State license in PT, OT or Speech. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified Neonatal Therapist, Infant Massage, Pediatric Certified Specialist, Pediatric Residency, NICU Fellowship
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
