
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help prevent, alleviate, and correct physical disabilities, bodily dysfunctions, and pain. This role involves treating patients of all ages in inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing facility settings using individualized treatment plans and evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Responsibilities include assisting with therapeutic exercises, balance and gait retraining, and the application of treatment modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, and soft tissue techniques. The PTA collaborates closely with Physical Therapists and other rehabilitation staff to deliver high-quality patient care while supporting patient safety, exceptional customer service, and Family Centered Care principles in all interactions with patients, families, and team members.
