Term of Employment: 10 months
Pitt County Schools is looking for a full time Physical Therapist to serve students with identified needs. This staff person would provide the following:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
? develops, implements and coordinates a physical therapy program within the local educational agency (LEA);
? provides screening, evaluation and intervention services for both pre-school and school age students;
? Interprets and reports evaluation findings and relays information to staff and families of pre-school and school age students.
? analyze risk, problem solve effectively and demonstrate a high level of professional judgment when recommending and providing services for both pre-school and school age students
? makes environmental modifications and trains staff to manage physical needs of both pre-school and school age students;
? provides direct and consultative services to include both pre-school and school age students
? communicates and consults with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community and other professionals for pre-school and school age students;
? serves as a collaborative service provider on a multi-disciplinary team for both pre-school and school age students;
? addresses equipment needs, works closely with DME providers and families, and writes letters of medical necessity to meet those equipment needs for school for pre-school and school age students;
? collaborates with community based therapists and other healthcare providers for effective coordination of service for pre-school and school age students;
? contributes to planning safe transportation for pre-school and school age students with a disability.
? provides consultation regarding emergency evacuation of pre-school and school age students with a disability.
? participates with improving school accessibility and planning environmental modification for pre-school and school age students;
? procures, maintains and inventories equipment, materials and supplies needed for pre-school and school age students;
? participates in staff meetings as requested.
? applies principles of physical therapy and works within the North Carolina Physical Therapy Practice Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other legal mandates.
SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
? Two years of experience (preferably in pediatric practice).
? Participation in recent continuing education programs related to pediatrics or school based physical therapy.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Graduation from an accredited program of physical therapy.
? Certification to practice in North Carolina as evidenced by current licensure as a physical therapist by the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
