Job Description

Location: Naval Hospital Bremerton, WA

Labor Category: Physical Therapist

Place of Performance: The work to be performed under this contract will be at Bremerton Naval Hospital or Everett Naval Base or Bangor Naval Base. HCWs shall receive notification 48 hours prior to the reassignment to another location within a 40-mile commuting radius of

their assigned MTF.

Recognized Holidays: Contract HCWs will not be required to work on federally

recognized holidays.

Scheduling: Specific days, hours, and shift length will be scheduled by the designated government representative. The specific schedule for each two-week period will be provided 1 month in advance by the government supervisor or designee. Any planned absences of the HCW shall be communicated to the government supervisor in advance. At the mutual agreement of the contractor and the Government, alternative schedules may be implemented such as a compressed work schedule. Any changes in the schedule shall be coordinated between the HCW and the government. Any planned absences of the HCW shall be communicated to the government

supervisor in advance of the absence. The Government reserves the right to change shift hours with 72 hours’ notice to accommodate patient care needs and mission requirements.

Work Schedule: Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600 and 1800 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5 or 9 hour period, to include an uncompensated 30 to 60 minute lunch break, respectively. The HCW may provide services 0600 and 1800 on Saturdays and Sundays. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per two-week period or 40 hours per two week period for 0.5 FTE. An alternate work schedule within the assigned clinic hours may be authorized upon mutual written agreement between the government supervisor and the HCW.

Closures: During a planned closure of the facility due to training, holiday or unplanned closure due to unusual and compelling circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, military emergencies, severe weather), the Contractor will only be compensated for the unplanned closure.

Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: HCWs performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF. Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient. Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function. Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology. Administer traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment. Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart and/or automated systems. Coordinate treatment with physician and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of the patient's health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns, as required. Perform prevention and wellness activities, education, screening, and promote positive health behaviors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree/Education: Master's degree in physical therapy or Baccalaureate degree in physical therapy for graduates prior to January 1, 2002. / Graduate from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in theService-specific credentialing instructions.
  • Board Certification: None
  • Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.
