Experience Required

  • Evaluates patients for physical therapy, in the in-patient setting, integrating the appropriate techniques of examination, history taking and systems review for musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular/pulmonary and integument
  • Plans the intervention for inpatients, including the most appropriate intervention strategies, frequency and time frames for optimal improvement, based upon the information gathered from the evaluation. Plans are appropriate to meet patient's specific age group
  • Implements treatment or interventions, consistent with the evaluation and plan of care including, but not limited to: physical agents; mechanical modalities; electrotherapeutic modalities; integument repair and protection techniques; assistive, adaptive, orthotic, prosthetic, supportive equipment; manual therapy techniques; functional training therapeutic exercise; patient/family instruction; coordination of care; communication and documentation appropriate to patient's specific age group
  • Performs re-evaluation of the patient to modify or re-direct interventions to reach therapy/patient goals; incorporate new clinical findings or address patient failure to respond to previous interventions. Applies diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests
  • Outcomes of the evaluation, plan, intervention (treatment) and reevaluation process are documented in a timely manner to the referring physician. Outcome data collection for departmental use, including performance improvement and patient satisfaction are maintained in addition to reports on patient's progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. Consults with physician and nursing concerning patient progress and treatment.
  • Completes Departmental and Hospital wide requirements for continuing education including minimum contact hour requirements at clinical education days.
  • Applies appropriate application and supervision of NPWT, including dressing changes and education / instruction to providers, nursing and family. Completes appropriate documentation related to NWPT.
  • 3-5 years experience preferred
  • Pelvic Floor experience preferred but not required.

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy

License/Certification Requirements

  • Must possess (or be eligible for) a current license to practice Physical Therapy in the State of NJ.
