Job Description

At Bulk, our mission is to build sustainable infrastructure that supports the digital society of tomorrow. As one of the leading providers of sustainable, high-performance data center solutions in the Nordics, we design and operate infrastructure that powers artificial intelligence and the digital society – efficiently, securely, and with 100% renewable energy. We are now looking to hire a Physical Security Director to play a central role in shaping the physical security standards that set the foundation for our growing data center portfolio.

The Physical Security Director is a high-impact role with responsibility for the end-to-end physical security program across multiple large-scale data center sites. You will design the operating model, set the standards, and act as the central security authority as Bulk grows. The role offers significant influence, close collaboration with senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to build a new central security capability from the ground up.

What you'll do:

As our Physical Security Director, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the end-to-end physical security program across Bulk's Nordic data center portfolio.

  • Define and own physical security standards, policies, and procedures aligned with hyperscaler-grade requirements.

  • Harmonize site security zoning, layered defences, access rules, and minimum controls against recognized standards (EN 50600-2-5, ISO/IEC 22237, ANSI/TIA-942).

  • Run site-level and portfolio-level security risk assessments and lead threat modelling, including insider threat and supply chain risk.

  • Own the reference architecture for PACS, CCTV, intrusion and alarm systems, including cyber-physical convergence with SOC/SIEM integration.

  • Ensure regulatory alignment across the EU/EEA (NIS2, CER), Norway (Sikkerhetsloven, NSM), and Denmark's evolving resilience framework.

  • Lead customer assurance engagements: evidence packs, audit walkthroughs, and continuous compliance reporting.

  • Act as senior escalation point during security incidents, leading investigations, incident command, and root cause analysis.

  • Build and then lead a team, and mentor site security teams and support capability building across the organization.

  • Establish vendor governance for guard services, integrators, and OEMs.

Who are you?

You are an experienced physical security leader with a strong evidence-based mindset and the credibility to act as an authority across a growing data center organization. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy setting standards from the ground up, and are comfortable balancing operational realities with long-term scalability.

What you bring:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in security management, Engineering, Risk/Compliance, Criminal Justice, or equivalent experience.

  • At least 10 years of experience in physical security, with a proven track record leading security for high-availability, 24/7 critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, hyperscaler/colocation, telecom, defence, or energy.

  • Working knowledge of data center security standards such as EN 50600-2-5, ISO/IEC 22237, and ANSI/TIA-942.

  • Expertise across PACS, CCTV, intrusion detection, perimeter protection, mantraps, and secure zoning.

  • Demonstrable ability to write and implement procedures, standards, and control frameworks – not just manage vendors.

  • Proven experience leading incident command and investigations, including insider threat scenarios.

  • Experience responding to hyperscaler or cloud provider audits and customer controls testing.

  • Familiarity with EU resilience regulation (NIS2, CER) and ISO 27001/27002 physical control concepts.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to lead through influence.

  • Comfortable with periodic travel to data centers, vendors, and project sites across Norway and Denmark.

  • Relevant certifications such as ASIS CPP, ASIS PSP, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor are an advantage.

Why join us?

  • A unique opportunity to shape a newly established central security function.

  • Influence the physical security standards of next-generation, sustainable data centers.

  • Work at the intersection of operations, engineering, and future-focused critical infrastructure.

What we offer our Bulkies:
  • A dynamic, growth-oriented workplace with a strong sustainability focus.

  • Comprehensive insurance and annual health check.

  • Additional time off during Easter and Christmas.

  • Monthly contribution to home internet costs and sustainable commuting.

  • Annual wellness allowance to support an active lifestyle.

  • Fully paid parental leave.

Take the next step in your career and join us as we build the future of digital infrastructure in Norway and beyond!
