At Stantec, our groundwater team is growing across British Columbia, Yukon, and Canada. We are seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist to serve as technical lead for our Hydrogeology Team within the Water Resources Group. This role provides a unique opportunity to help shape and grow a hydrogeology team while being connected to a broader national network of groundwater professionals.
The position offers a balance of technical leadership, project delivery, and people development. The successful candidate will lead and mentor a growing team of hydrogeologists and scientists while remaining actively involved in complex hydrogeological assessment and studies. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Canada, contributing to projects that range from baseline characterization and environmental assessments to mine water management, groundwater supply development, permitting, and closure planning.
This opportunity is well suited to an individual who enjoys both field and office work, has strong technical expertise in hydrogeological investigations, and is motivated by developing people and helping build a high-performing team.
Bachelor of Science degree in Hydrogeology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree is considered an asset.
Professional registration as a P.Geo. or P.Eng. in British Columbia.
Approximately 7-10 years of relevant hydrogeological consulting, mining, environmental, or water resources experience.
Demonstrated experience leading hydrogeological field programs, including drilling oversight, monitoring well installations, groundwater monitoring, and aquifer testing.
Experience supporting mining, infrastructure, water supply or environmental assessment projects is highly desirable.
Previous experience mentoring staff, coordinating project teams, or providing technical leadership is considered an asset.
Familiarity with provincial and territorial regulatory frameworks relevant to groundwater management in BC and Yukon is desirable.
This position is primarily office-based and operates under a hybrid work arrangement, with an expectation of three days per week in the office. While the role is focused on technical leadership, project delivery, and team development, occasional field involvement is expected to support hydrogeological investigations, oversee drilling and testing programs, mentor staff, and maintain a strong connection with field operations. Field assignments may include travel within British Columbia, Yukon, and other project locations, including remote environments, and may require variable hours and overnight stays.
