About the Role

You are a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse who is committed to improving the physical health outcomes of consumers experiencing mental health conditions. You will provide specialist physical health expertise across community mental health teams, supporting an integrated, holistic model of care. In this role, you will work collaboratively across both Hawthorn and Clarendon Community Mental Health Services, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the identification, monitoring, and management of physical health needs for consumers with complex and enduring mental illness.

  • Conduct comprehensive physical health assessments for consumers, identifying unmet health needs and contributing to holistic care planning.
  • Provide targeted physical health interventions including (but not limited to) wound care, metabolic monitoring, chronic disease management support, and facilitation of pathology.
  • Support early identification of physical health risks, including cardiometabolic concerns aligned with Equally Well principles.
  • Work directly with consumers in community and home-based settings, promoting engagement with primary and specialist care services.


Classifications for this position will range from Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 NP81 - NP74 ($107,546 - $119,438 per annum pro rata)



Your Contribution

  • Currently registered with the NMBA (per EBA)
  • At least 2 years' experience from within an inpatient setting
  • Hold a post graduate diploma in Psychiatric/mental health nursing or a specialist undergraduate Mental health Nursing Qualification.
  • A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
