Job Description

The Physical Availability Manager is accountable for driving equipment availability, performance, and cost-per-ton outcomes across key mining customers in Eastern Canada. This role acts as Toromont’s site performance leader — translating data into action, embedding best‑practice maintenance processes, and aligning internal teams to deliver uptime. This role is the performance expert at the mine site and the connector between Toromont’s operational teams, customer leadership, and Caterpillar resources. This role directly influences production, reliability, customer satisfaction, and Toromont’s long-term commercial success.

Compensation

$69,520.00 to $86,900.00

The listed base salary is just one component of our total rewards package, and performance-based or discretionary bonuses may be available.

In a typical day, YOU will:

  • Analyze fleet performance, downtime drivers, and maintenance execution to identify actionable improvement opportunities.
  • Champion Physical Availability, PM compliance, and component life KPIs.
  • Translate performance insights into targeted recovery plans in partnership with Customer, Caterpillar and Toromont.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving sessions and drive accountability across Toromont teams.

  • Work directly with shop and field supervisors to influence scheduling, labour allocation, contamination control, and repair quality.

  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations and Toromont’s operational delivery standards.

  • Serve as Toromont’s primary advisor on fleet application, maintenance strategy, and product health.

  • Provide recommendations on corrective actions, repair options, and long-term maintenance planning.

  • Lead targeted Recovery projects (root cause investigations, process changes, system adoption, engineering feedback loops).

  • Support new product introductions, technology deployments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Coordinate with Caterpillar partners to escalate systemic issues and drive long-term product improvements.

  • Act as the hub connecting Service Operations, Parts, Technical Communicators, and Planning teams.

  • Ensure performance issues are owned appropriately and resolved promptly.

  • Support knowledge transfer and training initiatives across Toromont field and shop teams.

Must-haves for this role:

  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Strong experience in mining operations, fleet maintenance, and heavy equipment repair processes.
  • Experience in dealer operations (planning, parts, service, warranty).
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and convert them into insights and actions.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to influence without authority across Toromont teams and customer departments.
  • Demonstrated success leading operational initiatives to completion.
  • Experience working with Caterpillar systems (LMT, ERS, HMS, etc.) or similar mining analytics tools
  • Formal Project Management Designation
  • Bilingualism is an asset (English/French)
