Job Description

We are looking for an engineer or physicist with experience in integrated photonics for a short-term position on bringing our project on a photonic quantum computing platform across the finish line.

In the large EU project EPIQUE, we are developing a photonic quantum processor on thin-film lithium niobate which will be able to implement Gaussian boson sampling through homodyne measurements on temporally correlated squeezed states. The project is set to end on December 31st, and to successfully complete the project, an experienced and proactive person is needed to drive and manage the final stages of the project.

The job

The position will involve day-to-day management of the project, including coordinating with partners, as well as technical work in the lab. The technical work involves daily operations and upkeep of the integrated photonics systems in the QPIT labs, detailed characterisation of chips received from project partners, and integration of external devices into the full quantum computing platform (including homodyne detectors, photon counters, and feed-forward systems).

The project management includes coordination with project partners about timelines and final technical details on their deliveries, writing of technical reports and deliverables, participation in consortium meetings, and in general, making sure that we complete as many of the project goals in time as possible. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to assist PhD-students in the lab with technical aspects of their project.

The position is time-limited until end of January 2027 (one month after project end).

Our expectations of you

We expect you to have a PhD degree in integrated photonics, quantum optics, or similar. Ideally, you already have experience from similar work. You should be diligent and proactive, with a flair for concise technical writing and good communication skills.

What we offer in return

We offer an exciting international environment at the QPIT (Quantum Physics and Information Technology) section of DTU Physics, which consists of more than 60 researchers, PhD students, engineers and administrative staff. We carry out frontline research in quantum information science, with an emphasis on continuous-variable quantum optics. The EPIQUE project, which this position will be attached to, is a cross-European EU-funded project on the development of photonic quantum computing technologies. DTU is in charge of one of the three core devices, the QSQUEEZE machine, that incorporates technology development from 5 other partners into a single device.

You will be working closely with PhD students and postdocs on the integrated photonics team, as well as project PIs and external partners, and you will have access to technical and administrative assistance from the section’s support staff.

Salary and appointment terms

The employment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). Your formal title will be Special consultant.

The start date is 1 July 2026, and the position is time-limited until 31 January 2027. The position is full-time.

Application and contact

Please submit your online application no later than 25 June 2026 (23:59 Danish time)Open the “Apply now” link, fill out the form and attach your motivated application, CV and exam certificates.
