Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience working with fiber optical components and packaging techniques.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with digital coherent optical transmission systems.
  • Proficiency in digital signal processing, high-speed optoelectronic circuit simulation or system modeling.
  • Knowledge of large volume high-speed optical transceiver designs and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of high speed design of electronics and optics.

You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers, affecting millions of Google users. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $132000 - $190000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Design low-cost and high-speed optical transceivers for inter-carrier interference (ICI) communication links.
  • Architect optical systems to scale TPU superpods.
  • Identify, research, evaluate emerging photonic networking technologies.
  • Explore optical technologies to disaggregate and improve the efficiencies of future computing systems.
