Location: New Victoria Hospital, Kingston upon Thames (KT2 7EG)
Part Time 22hrs (Monday – Saturday Shifts)
Circa. £17,185 + Fantastic Benefits

As a Phlebotomist, you'll be part of a collaborative team committed to putting patients first and maintaining the highest standards of care and safety.

How you’ll help us make health happen

As a Phlebotomist, you'll support the smooth running of the Outpatient Department by providing a professional and patient-focused blood collection service.

You'll work closely with patients, consultants, GPs, and clinical colleagues, ensuring specimens are collected accurately, handled safely, and processed efficiently while delivering an excellent patient experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture using a range of blood collection techniques, including vacuum tube, syringe, and butterfly methods.

  • Communicate with patients in a professional, compassionate, and reassuring manner before, during, and after procedures.

  • Collect, label, record, and safely transport blood and other biological specimens.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and enter relevant information into hospital systems.

  • Ensure all specimens are processed in line with quality, safety, and laboratory requirements.

  • Adhere to infection prevention, health and safety, confidentiality, and clinical governance standards.

  • Maintain clean, sterile equipment and safely dispose of sharps and clinical waste.

  • Support the wider team with administrative duties and contribute to continuous service improvement.

What we’re looking for

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualification.

  • Recognised Phlebotomy Certificate.

  • Previous phlebotomy experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.

  • Strong organisational and workload management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Flexible, self-motivated, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Previous private hospital experience and experience taking blood from children would be advantageous.
