Job Description

The Phlebotomist orders and transmits lab orders in the computer system. Responsibilities include processing blood, urine, stool specimens according to Laboratory procedures.

  • Full Time, Benefit Eligible
  • Monday-Friday - 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Columubus, OH

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ordering/Transmitting lab orders in computer system.
  • Assists in care of patient prior to, during, and after phlebotomy. Communicates with patients of all ages in a manner which promotes a comfortable and professional atmosphere.
  • Before performing blood draws verify patient name and date of birth.
  • Correct any diagnosis errors that flag in system.
  • Perform blood draws. Place patient name and date of birth on tube(s) in front of patient. Has knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for collection.
  • Processing of blood and urine specimens.
  • Stocks inventory and maintains a clean work area. Disposes biohazard material in the correct container.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Attends required meetings and participates as requested.
  • All other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Phlebotomy certificate
  • Strong phlebotomy and customer service skills
  • Previous experience in lab or clinical setting preferred
