Job Title: Phlebotomist II / LAB ASSISTANT
Salary Range: $19 - $26 per hour, based on skill and experience level.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager, or Supervisor, the Phlebotomist II performs Laboratory procedures in Phlebotomy and other specimen collections, General Laboratory, Processing, Waived POC testing, and/or any other duties under the direction of a licensed laboratory supervisor. The Phlebotomist II presents a professional, courteous and respectful demeanor when engaging with patients, co-workers, other staff and general public.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License / Registration / Certification
Certification with American Medical Technologist (AMT)
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
National Health Association (NHA)
National Phlebotomy Association (NPA)
CPR required
Issued by (Governing Body) AMT- American Medical Technologist, ASCP - American Society for Clinical Pathology, NCA - National Credentialing Agency, National Health Association (NHA), National Phlebotomy Association (NPA).
Level of Education - High School Diploma or equivalency
Phlebotomy Certification required (within three months of hire date, before preferred)
Field of Study - Phlebotomy
Years of Experience -1 year (preferred)
Describe Type of Experience - Phlebotomy, Point of Care (CLIA Waived testing) preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Phlebotomist Il is responsible for the collection of patient samples for adult and pediatric patients by vascular access (venipuncture) or capillary collection (finger stick) using aseptic protocols, accurate patient identification and proper labeling procedures (65%)
Perform specimen centrifugation, processing, prepping for transportation, storage and retrieval. Produce patient demographic sheet and prepare additional paperwork, labels, etc. to accompany specimens, as necessary
